Detailed description of Elmbrook Golf Course

Elmbrook Golf Course is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Traverse City, Michigan.

Elmbrook golf course first opened in 1964. The course was designed by Vern Nelson.

Elmbrook is situated on high, naturally rolling terrain with panoramic views of East and West Grand Traverse Bays and the surrounding area. The fairways are lined with mature hardwood and pine trees, and there are unique sand and water features, as well. Many of the holes have tees perched atop ridges, and several fairways lay on the bottoms of valley floors with hills on either side.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6027 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5028 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 7, a par-5 that plays to 490 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 14, a par-3 that plays to 155 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 5, a 425 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at the Elmbrook Golf Course is # 14, the 155 yard par-3.

$31 (cart included), played on Friday, May 2019 at 1:00 PM

Haven’t played here since the early 1980’s so looking forward to testing my memory. I only had time for nine (9) holes so I paid my $32 ($42 18\cart) and away I went. The front 9 plays 3,178yds/117 and is a Par 36 on this 1964 rolling layout. Full green conditions from tee to green with sprinkler/blocks marked for yardages. Club house sits on top of the highest point and #1 351yd Par 4 goes downhill with green back up. The #2 171yd Par 3 is uphill and needs 2 extra clubs to get her home. The #3 487yd Par 5 is a right hand dogleg that plays fairly easy, but don’t overshoot (drop off) the green. Many of the next small and smooth greens have steep fronts, that rejects any shots coming up short. The #7 511yd Par 5 is the longest hole and plays to a uphill 2 club Green. You must play #9 215yd Par 3 from the tips, just for a reality check on your driver carry. Over all, still a nice course but overpriced by $10 - $15 for nine (9) holes. I ended up shooting 39 w/16 putts on this hazy windy day that effects ball flight from these many elevated tees.

Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area
